FAREWELL TO OUR SUMMER STUDENTS – THREE FINE FOLKS WHO SAVED OUR SUMMER AT THE MUSEUM – HAYDEN HORTON, ASHLEY SAULNIER & JACKSON CARVER
- HAYDEN HORTON – Hayden was with us all during the school year as our Co-op Student from Liverpool High School. He continued with us for the summer as Administrative Assistant & Archive Assistant. Hayden continued to provide ideas and creative ways to do things at the Museum and these were so appreciated by the staff. When the Canada Summer Jobs grant was received, Hayden was the perfect person to fill that role and he did this seamlessly and without hesitation. Creating thank you certificates and whatever needed to be prepared and created, there was nothing that Hayden did not hesitate to help with during his tenure. Hayden goes into Grade 12 this year and we congratulate him as he is the new President of the Student Council at Liverpool High School. We wish him well in this school year and know he will continue to be part of our Hank Snow family whether it is as a volunteer or providing ideas to help us prosper. Thank you Hayden for giving us your summer and for the time you put in last year during the school year as well. The Archive room has had an uplift, is organized and ready for the next steps all due to your hard work. Your input and help with whatever came up to be completed was noticed and appreciated.
- ASHLEY SAULNIER – Ashley was such a special addition to our staff. We asked her to come on staff as a part timer and she came to us in June helping us out in the Museum. With the monies we raised at the Summer Festival, we were able to ask Ashley to come on full time and she did taking a position as the lead Museum Assistant for the summer. Ashley has a delightful personality and was such a welcome addition to the front desk staff at the Museum taking folks on tours, organizing and looking after the Gift Shop and generally putting her hand to whatever needed to be done. Being a Mom with two wonderful children, Houston & Fallon and a partner, Chris who also came on board to help out when we needed those additional hands, Ashley was able to handle the extra needs of the position. She is a University student who has undertaken this in addition to her family responsibilities and then gave her all to the Museum as well. We thank her for her generous support to make our summer successful and to be a bright spot at all our events. Thank you Ashley and we look forward to having her as part of our community for a long time as we so appreciated her summer with us.
- JACKSON CARVER – Jackson began mowing our lawns and whippersnipping and was busy helping his grandfather with those busy chores early in the Spring and Summer. When we received a grant for the Young Canada Works, we did not hesitate to ask Jackson to consider taking the role as Museum Assistant. For a young guy without experience, Jackson filled the role with quiet work ethics and we appreciated his giving us his time and effort as he worked through the first job training and learning steps. Jackson became known as the Assistant who had large numbers of visitors and gift shop buyers during his days on the job. We really appreciated watching his growth in learning on the job and becoming adept at performing his duties. Jackson goes to high school this year and we wish him well in this new experience in learning. Thank you Jackson for all your dedication and help during this summer period at the Museum. We appreciated your taking on this challenge and learning and being such a great part of our team.
