Guestbook
Well, I currently live in Calgary Alberta, but as of this writing I am on route back to my home Province of Ontario. I have a complex story. My father that passed in August of 2017 was a huge music fan. One of his most treasured artists was Hank Snow.
When my father passed in Ontario, I was living in North Carolina with my husband and daughter. We only had 19 days to be back in Canada at the time, after selling our home there. We landed in Windsor, Ontario and purchased a home in an area called Fontainebleau, of Windsor, on Queen Elizabeth drive. It was an older side-split home stuck in about 1973 the year it was built. The man that lived alone there had passed away, with his slippers still at the edge of the couch. That man was a School Janitor, of a local Catholic Elementary School, and this man seemed loved. Many coloring sheets were there for him from the kids. We had the opportunity to meet his sister. The sister took the personal belongings of her brother and told us to keep the records for some reason. We learned from the sister that apparently her older brother had Hank Snow over at the house when he was in Windsor, and Chet Atkins. The basement had one of the old bars, a turntable, and the old record stands, filled to the brim. A wooden door type thing, with a Chet Atkins signature directly on it, and what appeared to be a personal photo of Hank Snow, like an old polaroid. Then, a collection of records and other memorabilia all signed. Some records appear to be studio type recordings, without any pictures on them.
We were struggling with our daughter's mental health then, and no time to deal with investigating the records. It held a spot in my heart for some reason though, because that man had died in the same time frame as my dad, and here was all this 'Hank Snow', he would have loved! It seemed somehow like it was special and meant something, (dad reaching out!). So, we hauled it with us to Calgary, and busy there as well with family health matters, and work, moving again now, and realized, wow! — I've not looked at these at all, and now all my friends from here are asking about them and telling me not to take them to a record shop. They are not even aware of the signatures or anything of the studio albums. So, with them being buggy, I had a second look before the record shop, and holy smokes! — This is not normal records, this is special. So, we will contact the museum when we get to Ontario and have some time.
Another side note, we had experienced a terrible time with our little girl while in Windsor, and we had no choice but to act quickly to get her help at the time. The sister had also mysteriously left a snow globe in the kitchen of the Calgary tower! With no previous connections to Calgary, I would never in a million years think we would ever move there. It turned out, the best place to get her help. Daughter is doing fantastic now, in college, thank you God!
